Marian Rouse chose to become a patient advocate due to her personal experience in assisting others to make health care decisions in a system that is often daunting, confusing, and overwhelming. Over the past 20 years, she has served as a healthcare advocate for not only her family and friends, but also numerous families referred to her from others who heard about or used her service. This multi-faceted experience has given her an in-depth knowledge of how to navigate the medical system and associated important decisions involved in determining the best solutions for healthcare dilemmas. In her own father’s words, “I don’t know how Mom and I could have gotten through the maze of medical services and decisions we needed to make without your help”. Because of her personal experience helping private clients make informed decisions about their healthcare, she became a Certified Patient Advocate in 2019.
